FIRST JOINT CONFERENCE OF
ALL THE WORLD TRADE CENTERS IN CHINA

pa2gr1.jpg (42536 bytes)     WTC Macau Executive Director Francis Tam attended the 10th anniversary ceremony of the World Trade Center Chongqing on 18-19 June which coincided with the First Joint Conference of all the World Trade Centers in China.

     The 1st Joint WTC China Conference was attended by 14 centers from Macau, Hong Kong, Taichung, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Shenzhen, Xian, Haikou, Shijiazhuang, Chengdu, Wuhan and, last but not least, Chongqing, where the meeting was held. The conference was chaired by He Ping, Secretary-General of the WTC Chongqing.

     The main objectives of the meeting were to strengthen co-ordination, co-operation and understanding between China's 14 World Trade Centers, exchange experiences and promote further co-operation and communication between all the centers concerned.

     Mr Tam gave a detailed briefing about the WTC Macau, namely our attractive facilities and services, projects and upcoming activities.

WORLD TRADE CENTER MACAU PARTICIPATES IN
98’S CFIIT IN XIAMEN, CHINA

pa2gr2.jpg (80296 bytes)     WTC Macau Executive Director Peter Lam headed a five-member delegation to this year’s China Fair for International Investment and Trade in Xiamen in Fujian province on 8-12 September, at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation Ministry.

     Mr Lam met the Deputy Director of the Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation, Wang Xiao Chuan, during his stay in Xiamen. Mr Lam told the Deputy Director about the WTC Macau’s continued efforts to function as a "bridge" for direct foreign investment in the Chinese mainland. Mr Lam and Mr Wang also exchanged views on the economic development in the Chinese mainland and Macau.

     The WTC Macau delegation held talks with a number of mainland Chinese municipal representatives about investment opportunities. The delegation also acquired useful information on investments in China. seta.gif (127 bytes)
