Nine Board members of the World Trade Center Macau have been appointed
members of China's Preparatory Committee of the future Macau Special Administration
Region. The Preparatory Committee has nine vice chairmen, among them five
from Macau, all of who are WTC Macau Board members.
![]() Stanley Ho said he was "greatly honoured" to have been appointed one of the Preparatory Committee's nine Vice-Chairmen, adding he knew that the appointment amounted to a "great responsibility". Susana Chou described the setting-up of the Preparatory Committee as a "historic event". "I feel honoured that I have been appointed a Vice-Chairman of the Preparatory Committee." |
Ms Chou also said "the Preparatory Committee should listen to the people
of all sectors and handle well all the preparatory work, thereby laying
a solid foundation for the future Macau Special Administrative Region."
Ma Man Kei said the fact that 60 per cent of the Preparatory Committee members were from Macau was proof of the Chinese government's commitment to ist policy of "Macau people ruling Macau". Ng Fok who is a Vice-Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, said the formation of the Preparatory Committee was a "big event" for Macau, adding the Preparatory Committee's membership structure "represents a broad section of Macau residents". He also stated that "Macau people should cherish this important moment and unite to make contributions to the realisation of the policy of One Country, Two Systems, under the principle of Macau people ruling Macau." The other four Preparatory Committee members from the WTCM Board are: WTC Macau Board Vice-Chairman Vitor Ng, Executive Committee Director Tam Pak Yuen, General Assembly Vice-President Liu Chak Wan and General Assembly Secretary Leong Song. |

for the Preparatory Committee is to find the right way to help solve Macau's
economic and security
The Preparatory
Committee will prepare the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative
Region, namely its
Macau will become a highly autonomous Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China on 20 December next year, after about 442 years of Portuguese administration. |
